Jackie’s Story

Jackie was born and raised just far enough outside Chicago that if you're from anywhere else, you’d say she’s from Chicago, but if you know the city, you’d say she’s actually from Wilmette. The second of four children, Jackie spent her childhood challenging her parents’ authority and manipulating her younger siblings. She loves hiking, winter, eating hummus three meals a day, and waking up for sunrise. Always drawn to the mountains, she went to University of Colorado in Denver to complete internal medicine residency and is now in the midst of a cardiology fellowship at Northwestern in Chicago. When she’s not running around the hospital unclogging arteries, you can find her goofing around with her nieces and nephews.

Mitch’s Story

Mitch was born and raised just far enough outside Baltimore that if you’re from anywhere else, you'd say he's from Baltimore, but if you know the city, you'd probably still claim he's from Towson for the sake of simplicity. And if you’re truly from the area, you’d tell people he's from Glen Arm — way out near Boordy Vineyards, since that’s the only recognizable landmark nearby. The third of four kids, Mitch spent his childhood breaking things, getting dirty, and relentlessly annoying his siblings. He hates the cold and despises early mornings, but loves the outdoors and long-distance running (like, really long). Mitch works in remote sensing for an NSF-funded project called NEON, based in Boulder, CO. When he's not shooting lasers out of airplanes and collecting hotel points on work trips, you'll usually find him running and replenishing carbs in the form of beer.

Our Story

Jackie and Mitch’s love story began during the first winter of Covid, in the same manner that all great modern romances begin: the dating apps. Their outdoor stroll led to beers at a brewery, which led to hikes and runs, and before they knew it, they were living together. Four short years later, they planned a wedding and then got engaged. Jackie has learned to live a daily life planned to the level of detail of a military operation, and Mitch has learned that nothing in life with Jackie ever goes according to plan. They are excited to continue taking on life’s fun challenges together.
